Lee Martin-Scull, Shal’s Housing Manager
Shal’s Housing Manager, Lee Martin-Scull, was selected as one of the Inside Housing Management 30 for 2026. Over 100 nominations were received from across the Housing sector, and Lee was chosen as one of the 30 to celebrate, for his outstanding work in housing management.
Lee was officially awarded at this year’s Housing 2026 conference in Manchester. Speaking about the event, Lee said, “It was a great event and a real celebration of how housing can have a positive impact on people’s lives. To be nominated by my colleagues was a real surprise, and it feels great to be acknowledged in this way. I’m looking forward to continuing to develop our Housing team and Shal as a whole, to make sure we keep delivering an excellent, tenant-focused service”.
Lee was nominated for the Inside Housing Management 30 list for his work with Shal since 2018. He has transformed how we work, and ensures tenants are at the heart of everything we do. His key achievements include introducing trauma-informed engagement and restorative practice, making sure a person-centred approach is embedded in every tenant-facing role. As our complaints officer he has ensured that we listen to and learn from complaints. This work was recognised by the Housing Ombudsman, and Lee has been asked to present our approach twice.
Shal CEO, Simon Anderson, said “Lee is a calm, thoughtful leader who is happy to take on any element of housing management. His collaborative approach always focuses on what is best for our tenants. We have been through a significant period of change in the last year, and Lee has remained a constant and reassuring presence. We are proud to have him as our Housing Manager.”
