In May 2023, SHAL’s Board appointed James Gibson as SHAL’s new Chair.

He joins SHAL as Chair of the Board and will work alongside 9 Non-Executive Directors including Kathy James (Chair of SHAL’s Finance, Audit and Risk Committee) and Mike Day (Chair of SHAL’s Development Committee) and Angela Gascoigne (SHAL’s CEO and Executive Board Member). 

He replaces Mike Day who acted as interim Chair after Mark Stuart stood down in 2022 at the end of his term of office.

James is the Development Director for Sovereign Housing Association.  He’s been working at Sovereign Housing Association since 1995.  He is well connected across the region with close contact amongst the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, Local Authorities, Homes England and Regional Developers.
