New Homes Expansion  

Somerset based SHAL Housing has today announced an expansion of its programme of affordable homes. SHAL’s headquarters is in Bridgwater and it has properties across Sedgemoor and Taunton Deane. It now intends to increase its supply.

SHAL’s Chief Executive, John Thomson, explained, “We have had a small building programme for years but a recent survey of some of our tenants showed support for increasing our programme. Re-negotiating our mortgage package recently has supplied the funds and we are now to appoint a specialist to lead this expansion.”

SHAL, as a landlord with an average rent of £69 a week, is very conscious that many people cannot afford to buy and need to rent. A current development of 6 flats, being built by A & H Gadd Ltd is to finish in February. The new programme, however, hopes to see 30 new homes built later in the year.
