Bridgwater-based social landlord, SHAL Housing has appointed Simon Gitsham as New Business Manager with a brief to buy land.

At a time of stress in the housing sector this provider of affordable homes is looking to expand. John Thomson, Chief Executive, explained “We know there is an increasing demand for homes to rent and our Board and our tenants want more homes to rent. With our average rent at around £71 a week our housing is significantly cheaper than the buy-to-let market. Simon’s job is to source sites upon which we can build in the years to come”.

SHAL works in the Sedgemoor and Taunton Deane districts of Somerset and Simon, a Chartered Surveyor, will be making contact with agents, developers and land owners in the coming months.
